Father and Son injured in farm accident

On Friday, January 25, 2008, at 10:00 p.m. the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 emergency call from the Michael Klatt residence on 10th Street in Clinton Township, reporting a subject trapped in a farm auger.

Units from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, Barron Ambulance, Cumberland Ambulance, Almena Fire Department and Turtle Lake First Responders responded to the residence.

Upon arrival they discovered 18-year-old Sean Klatt trapped in an auger system, with injuries to his lower extremities and 46-year-old Michael Klatt with injuries to a hand and arm from attempting to rescue his son. Both men were transported by ambulance to Barron Hospital, and then by a medic jet to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
