Henry August Betzel, III, 78, of Rice Lake died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Lakeview Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1940 in Cumberland to Henry and Ellen (Byers) Betzel, Jr. The family moved to St. Paul, MN and Henry graduated from St. Paul Central High School. He joined the US Army and served as a surveyor for two years, stationed in Germany. After his service, he received his certificate as a machinist from Dunwoody Institute. He worked for Jay Manufacturing, Hasmans Industries, Reynolds Aluminum and Twin City Arsenal. He moved back to Cumberland, and worked for City of Cumberland and later Cumberland Municipal Utility, retiring in November of 1998.
Henry was an incredibly talented welder, craftsman and jack of all trades.  He loved to hunt, fish Musky, ride, build and repair motorcycles and cars, oftentimes building the necessary parts. 
He is survived by his sister, Mary Betzel of Rice Lake and his very best friend, Roxanne Ross of Cumberland; several cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tom.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Skinner Funeral Home - Cumberland with Pastor Virgil Amundson officiating and John Paulson, Jerry Paulson, Jason Paulson, Gregg Ross, Rob Javener and Don Broome serving as pallbearers. Burial with full military honors accorded by Anderson-Thomson Post #98 American Legion, Cumberland will be at Lakeside Cemetery - Cumberland.
