Dave Olson-Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee 2018

When the Cumberland Athletic Hall of Fame Induction takes place this October 6, 1994 graduate Dave Olson will be among the four to receive their plaque that Saturday night.
Olson received 10 letters during his four years of participation in football, basketball, and baseball. He had the rare honor of being named First Team All-Conference and a team MVP  n each sport during that time.
In football, he set a then school record of 39 receptions as a tight end his senior year. It included a game-winning touchdown catch in the last seconds of an upset over Bloomer.
In basketball, he was a two-time First Team selection and averaged 20.2 points and grabbed 10.1 rebounds a game his senioe season. He would play in the State Coaches All-Star game and was named Academic All-State.
In baseball, Olson played on two Conference Championship teams ans was also named First Team All-Conference twice. Again he was Academic All-State as well as playing in the State All-Star Classic, where he had four hits.
Following his outstanding high school career, Olson attended Winona State University, where he lettered four times in football and was twice named First Team All-Conference. He played on two Conference Championship teams and was invited to the Indianapolis Mini-Camp following his senior season, after being named the 31st best Tight end in the 1998 NFL Draft.
After a brief time in the business world, Olson returned as a math teacher to his alma mater, where he works today. He has coached in each of his high school sports and is currently an assistant in both football and baseball. On October 6th, his story of excellence will be told once more.
